DROPPED ANCHOR

FAQ

Hi its me Debbie

the owner/ manager of my fabulous little campsite

I get asked asked a lot of questions about my campsite and the surrounding area so here goes trying to answer a few of them for you.

Yes there are 2 footpaths that take you to Rinsey from the campsite Lane, but both paths are up and over Cornish walls and there may be some cows in the fields, it takes about 20 mins to walk to Rinsey from the campsite which is where you get on and off the coastal path.

1 path is a the bottom of the lane just before the farm which takes you to the right towards Rinsey. The 2nd path is just up the lane from the campsite which takes you diagonal accross fields towards Rinsey.

You can walk on the lane all the way around to Rinsey which is slightly further but avoiding the walls and the livestock.

Our closet beach is Rinsey cove, which is a small sandy cove, there is a footpath from Rinsey carpark down to the beach but is not suitable for people that have a walking impairment or prams as the path is narrow at the bottom and a climb down rocks to actually get on to the beach.

You can walk to Rinsey cove from the campsite which would take approximately 30mins.

Praa sands is a short drive away 5 mins this is a mile long Sandy beach with good parking, lifeguards and cafe/bar, this is a great surfing beach.

Porthleven has a small stone beach which is very popular and great for bathing but not ideal for sandcastle Building.

We have many more amazing beaches all within a short drive from the campsite, Marazion beach, Perranuthnoe, St Ives, kynance cove, Mullion are just a few.

Our closest pub is the Lion and Lamb at Ashton which is a 1 mile flat walk from the campsite along the lane.

They do lovely home cooked food, a good pint and very dog friendl.

A added bonus is they offer all Dropped Anchor campers a slight discount for food ordered which is a really nice gesture.

Porthleven is 2 miles down the road and has an abundance of restaurants , cafes and pubs all offering lovely food and something for everyone's budget.

Porthleven is 2 miles from Dropped Anchor campsite this is down the coastal road which has amazing views whilst walking but does not have a footpath, it is not a very busy road but is down hill all the way there, so yes an uphill walk on the way back.

You can walk the coastal path to Porthleven which you get access at Rinsey this is a great walk with a number of old tin mines to pass on Trewavas head.

This is something we are looking into with not have electricity and finding a freezer that can run of LPG gas is proving to be rather difficult,

so unfortunately at the moment we do not freeze ice packs, most campers tend to use bags of ice to keep items cool, but we do sell fresh milk, bacon and eggs.

No sorry there is no electricity on site at Dropped Anchor we are all off grid.

I do have a solar panel in my caravan which provides me with lights and ability to charge phones etc.

All lights around the site are solar.

Yes I can charge phones on my solar panel in my carvan for just a small charge

50p for phones

£1 for small Power Packs

Yes we have free fire pits on all pitches which you are very welcome to use, please do not light fires outside of these pits unless on a raised pit with a slab underneath to stop grass burn.

BBQ's are always welcome either in the fire pit or again of the ground with a slab or stone underneath to stop grass burn.

Yes we sell wood, kindling, matches, marshmallows and an abundance of other camping essentials in our little horse box shop and honesty box.

Yes dogs are very welcome as I have 3 spaniels mysel. I ask that you abide by the campsite rules and don't let your dog wonder onto other peoples pitches and that you always clean up after them.

I dont charge for there stay but I ask for a donation towards the Last Chance Hotel which is a local animal charity. There is a donation box by the facilities area, in the shop and with myself.

Thankyou for your support 😊👍
